NEEEERD!!! NEEERRRRRDD!!! [08/05/2007] Ok, look, somewhere I read (i think i read) that you could mod those cheap ass plastic behringer pedals. I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine it, but it said that you could grab one of those cheapy Behringer reverb pedals and make it into a super extendo reverb by CHANGING THE OCILLATING CRYSTAL FROM A 10.000 MHZ CLOCK SPEED TO A 6.000 MHZ CLOCK SPEED TO SLOW DOWN THE OPERATING PROCESSOR AND THEREFORE INCREASE THE REVERB TRAIL LENGTH. That's right, you heard what I said. I'm a fucking huge geek. Look, the thing is rated at 96 khz at 24 bit (errr yeah right), so halving that would still give you a fairly good audio quality, right? Not that I care too much, I just want a long ass reverb trail. This pedal costs $45 AU, which is shit all for a guitar pedal, especially a digital reverb pedal. So this morning, before work, I went to the electronics store and bought a 6.000 mhz crystal for like fucking $3 and tonight I'm gonna mount it inside, with step by step instructions. $45 for a fucking awesome reverb pedal? Don't mind if I do. So, there it is in all different pieces. Don't ask me why it's underneath my lamp on the floor, it just is. So here I've unsoldered the original 10.000 mhz crystal and chucked in a 6.000 mhz crystal. The guy gave me a mini one, coz they're both the same. Btw, unsoldering that thing is a bitch. Also, soldering a new one on is a bitch too. There's the bottom of the PCB, you can see the tiny, tiny traces because it's all SMC stuff, so really, really hard to modify. Ok, now to plug it in. Keep in mind I only *remember* reading about this somewhere, I might have just imagined it... Sucess!!!! There's not really any noticeable drop in audio quality, and I now have 166% of the reverb length that I had before. It's actually reeeally good, it opens it out more, it doesn't sound as small now! Before the trails were really short on every setting, so it sort of wasn't very versitile! If you wanna hear it, COME TO MY GIGS, BITCHES! the vulpine ROCK! Any questions, email me. Just go to the band page. Oh yeah, and how fucked is this, I'm varnishing my guitar amp, I open it up, and it turns out some fucker has wired up the power cable, the TWO FORTY VOLT POWER CABLE with god damn speaker wire. That must be some good ass speaker wire... I changed it btw. Go back to main page... All content on this site is copyright of me, 2006 to whenever.
